PROENZA SCHOULER OPEN ITS FIRST STORE IN BANGKOK IN MAY 2014
Last Wednesday I was invited by Club 21 Thailand to the press briefing event at Proenza Schouler first flagship store in Thailand. Located at The Central Embassy, in the heart of Bangkok City, the store takes its design inspiration from the brand’s flagship boutiques in New York, including the signature Proenza Schouler triangle monogram steel screen. The store boutique is 1400-square-foot, designed in collaboration with Adjaye Associates. You can see the features of graphic minimal lines, and a material palette of Ziricote wood, burnt wood and concrete, with an open plan layout optimal for shopping the collection.
I am totally in love and worship the clothes of Proenza Schouler. Founded in 2002 by designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, Proenza Schouler is known for its fusion of craftsmanship and attention to detail with a sense of refined ease. Inspiration drawn from contemporary art and youth culture is combined with an emphasis on tailoring and the use of custom developed fabrics. Established as a leading talent in the industry, Proenza Schouler has won five CFDA awards, including 2009 Accessory Designer of the Year, and Womenswear Designer of the Year in 2007, 2011 and 2013. Their PS1 handbag embodies a sense of wearable luxury that has become the brand’s signature.
Proenza Schouler Thailand will carry a curated mix of ready-to-wear, focusing on bags, footwear and accessories, starting with the brand’s Spring Summer 2014 collection. This season, the designers explore the idea of “understated domesticity,” sending out sophisticated, textured looks in a restrained palette.
Here are the textures of the clothes worth studying. Pleating, crushing, screen printing on tweed fabrics, heat setting and foil printing, all these techniques are very innovative and clever in the way that we rarely see in local fashion labels. I feel good that finally we have another source of good fashion design opening in Bangkok.
God is in the details. These two above is screen-printing and foil-printing on the edge of the pleats.
This PS courier backpack was added to my dream wish list already…
